Medical Anatomy Center news
Jonathon Mang, an Albany, Oregon paramedic, firefighter and Samaritan Life Support Educator who teaches COMP-Northwest students basic and cardiac life support, received the Oregon Emergency Medical Services Educator of the Year award on Sept. 28, 2018. Following two years of observing and mentoring Jon Mang, Dr. Brion Benninger submitted a successful application for the award to the Oregon Health Authority. Mang has taught our medical students life support courses, helped with donor cadaver research and CMEs. He epitomizes a lifelong learner and reflects the attitude and culture of WesternU.

Dr. Benninger combined a novel contrast medium with a perfusion technique he helped develop to be the first individual to successfully acquire 12-Tesla MRI scans highlighting the arterial and venous systems of the orbit, parotid gland, TMJ, thumb, and great toe. He demonstrated detailed anatomy in 3-D and believes it will be valuable for medical technology companies and health care providers interested in simulation, invasive instruments, procedures, and anatomy education.
