WesternU holds Sept. 11 memorial
First responders and city officials joined Western University of Health Sciences faculty, staff and students in honoring those who died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks 14 years ago. WesternU’s Military Medical Student Association organized the memorial service on WesternU’s Pomona campus Sept. 11, 2015.

Pomona Mental Health Awareness Summit
WesternU is partnering with other organizations for a free Pomona Mental Health Awareness Summit designed for high school and college students, parents, family members, friends, community advocates, tutors, peer counselors and mentors.

9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 at Indian Hill Village Conference Center, 1460 E. Holt Ave., Pomona, Calif. 91767.

The event is coordinated by Alpha Kappa Alpha local chapter, Epsilon Eta Omega in collaboration with the City of Pomona, Pomona Unified School District, NAMIPV, Tri-City Mental Health Services, and WesternU. The workshops and keynote will cover stigma, anxiety, homelessness, bullying, depression, trauma, and self-esteem. Resources will be available and door prizes will be given.  Lunch will be provided.

Morishita has been appointed by the Office of National Programs, United States Department of Agriculture, to serve as the Chair for the Food Safety National Program, Agricultural Research Service’s review panel on Antimicrobial Resistance in Poultry.
