More than 1,900 prospective Western University of Health Sciences students are registered to attend the third WesternU Preview Day, Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010.

Preview Day will provide potential students the opportunity to get more information about a health profession program of interest, hear about the admissions process, learn about financial aid, see curriculum firsthand, discover how to become a competitive applicant, and meet current students and faculty.

The day begins with a resource fair from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the esplanade area in front of the Health Education Center (HEC) on campus. From 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., potential students break out into college-specific sessions, followed by optional tours. College-specific breakout sessions include presentations, student panels, and admissions Q & A.

The upcoming Preview Day is at capacity, and registration is closed. Additional days are planned during the remainder of the academic year. Prospective students interested in receiving an e-mail notification for the next Preview Day can submit their e-mail here.

WesternU will have representatives from all nine colleges, which offer 16 degrees.

Preview Day is held at 701 E. Second Street near Linden and Second streets.

More that 1,000 prospective students attended the previous two Preview Days on May 1 and June 9, 2010.

Health care will generate 3.2 million new jobs between 2008 and 2018, more than any other industry, largely in response to rapid growth in the elderly population. Ten of the 20 fastest-growing occupations are related to health care, according to a 2010-11 edition of the Career Guide to Industries in the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Media are welcome to attend. For more information about WesternU Preview Day and to inform us if you are joining us, please contact Jullie McCurdy, director of the Office of University Recruitment, or Rick Leeper, assistant director, at (909) 469-5330, or e-mail recruitment@westernu.edu.
