WesternU to Hold Downtown Dash Oct. 20

The Department of Physical Therapy Education at Western University of Health Sciences will hold its inaugural WesternU Downtown Dash 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, in celebration of National Physical Therapy Month and the department’s 20th anniversary.

Proceeds from the dash will go to the Boys and Girls Club of Pomona Valley.

The fun run/walk will start near 309 E. Second Street, Pomona, Calif., at the campus’ west end near Gibbs Street, and will continue throughout the campus and its Esplanade.

Cost is $20 per participant, which includes a T-shirt. Boys and Girls Club runners also can be sponsored with a $20 fee.

Registration and check-in begin at 7:30 a.m. All participants must check in and complete a waiver prior to the start of the race.

The Kid’s Fun Run begins at 9 a.m., the Adult Fun Run begins at 9:15 a.m., and the Family Fun Run/Walk begins at 9:30 a.m.

Prizes will be awarded for first-, second- and third-place finishers in various categories. Children under 12 will receive a medal, and prizes will be handed out along the route. Water and a first-aid station also will be available.
