Western University of Health Sciences Senior Vice President Thomas G. Fox, PhD, will take on additional responsibilities beginning July 1, 2014.

Dr. Fox currently oversees Human Resources and University Advancement. In addition, he now will supervise Facilities and Physical Plant, Environmental Health & Safety and Security, and Compliance, along with J-1 Visas. He also will chair WesternU’s Operations Council.

As the University’s Provost and Chief Operating Officer, Gary Gugelchuk, PhD, will remain involved in these departments.

“The plan is to free up Dr. Gugelchuk to focus on other areas as I relieve him of direct report responsibilities in these areas,” said WesternU President Philip Pumerantz, PhD. “Ultimately, since Dr. Fox ran similar units in New Jersey and at Oregon Health & Science University, I am comfortable shifting them from Dr. Gugelchuk to Dr. Fox.”

These changes reflect WesternU’s continued growth – more than 1 million square feet and 1,200 employees – and represent a streamlining and consolidation.

“WesternU has a good team, which will make the transition easier,” Dr. Fox said.
