Western University of Health Sciences President Daniel R. Wilson, MD, PhD, was the recipient of a Pomona Unified School District (PUSD) 2018 Community Service Award in recognition of his support of the “Pomona Partnership” between the University and the school district.

Dr. Wilson was nominated through the PUSD Health Services Department and recognized with this achievement during PUSD’s annual Community Service Awards ceremony.

The Tribute for Wilson during the ceremony stated, “Western University of Health Sciences and Pomona Unified School District have a special and longstanding relationship. WesternU faculty and staff work closely with each Pomona Unified student to deepen and expand the partnership and linked activities. These activities support health education and help to improve the quality of life for our students and the community of Pomona.”

“The city of Pomona has bestowed upon Western University of Health Sciences the 2018 Community Service Award,” Wilson said. “This wonderful honor celebrates our significant and sustained engagement with the Pomona Unified School District. I am delighted to accept this on behalf of our many, many remarkable students and faculty who volunteer countless hours in a variety of programs that help lift up hundreds of young people in Pomona and, thereby, help lift up our great City.”
