WesternU Community and Governmental Affairs recently partnered with the city of Pomona and the Pomona Police Department to bring a new K-9 officer into the Department fold. WesternU partially sponsored the purchase and training of the 14-month-old Belgian Malinois named Bari, which will receive veterinary services through the WesternU Pet Health Center and the College of Veterinary Medicine, just as his predecessor did when the University sponsored a K-9 unit in 2016. The WesternU logo also will be displayed on the K-9 unit vehicle.

Bari was selected by the Department after testing three candidates Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Alderhorst International LLC in Jurupa Valley, California. His handler, Officer Hayward, was on site during the selection.

On hand for the selection was Patricia Lozano, executive assistant to the chief of Community & Governmental Affairs at WesternU.
