WesternU Dean Selected to be Part of Gubernatorial Trade Mission to China
Western University of Health Sciences’ Graduate College of Biomedical Sciences Dean Michel Baudry, PhD, is one of approximately 75 people throughout California selected to participate as a delegate in a trade and investment mission to China with Governor Jerry Brown and senior members of his administration April 10 – 16, 2013.
The mission will help increase direct investment in California, build sales by California businesses, and strengthen ties between the world’s second- and ninth-largest economies, according to the Office of the Governor.
“”Participating will go a long way toward helping WesternU become a leader in training the next generation of health researchers and practitioners,”” Baudry said. “”Fostering a partnership and collaboration between our University and the leading Chinese universities and medical centers is important, since the Pasadena-Pomona-Riverside corridor represents a rich and diverse community, which needs to develop innovative solutions to the health care challenges of the future.””
Baudry said he will promote WesternU and that he’s interested in offering WesternU programs to foreign students, and in particular to Chinese students, because they are especially important to his future PhD program on Translational Health Sciences and the future expansion of the master’s programs in biomedical sciences and informatics medicine. He will also push for enhanced collaboration between California and China to support research on the effects of urban nanoparticles on health.
