The Board of Directors of the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine (AACPM) is pleased to announce the admittance of the Western University of Health Sciences College of Podiatric Medicine (CPM) into membership in the Association on July 1, 2010. The College welcomed its inaugural class of 38 students in August 2009.

CPM Dean Lawrence Harkless, DPM, said he is looking forward to interacting with other deans and sharing his knowledge with others.

“”This will really allow me to see what the vision is for AACPM and where WesternU fits into that process,”” he said. “”This is an opportunity to learn and grow and share my 30 years of experience in an Academic Health Science Center and my excitement and passion for health sciences education.””

Western University of Health Sciences is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The College of Podiatric Medicine was granted candidate status by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education in April 2010.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, AACPM Chairman Jeffrey C. Page, DPM, remarked, “”WUCPM now joins the other schools and colleges of podiatric medicine to speak with one voice to advance the education of all podiatric medical students. The College will enhance the Association’s mission and its scope of influence in the medical education community. We welcome the Western University of Health Sciences College of Podiatric Medicine to the Association.””
