Western University of Health Sciences selected the first-ever recipient of

its “”Corporate Award for Excellence in Health Care,”” which will be

presented at the university’s annual “”A Tribute To Caring”” fundraising

gala.

Good Neighbor Pharmacy/AmerisourceBergen, a community-minded corporate

producer of more than 2,000 independently-owned pharmacies, will be given

the university’s distinction as part of the event at the Beverly Hills

Hotel on October 25.

The award, developed by members of the university’s administration, is

designed to recognize corporate organizations that have taken a proactive

role in advancing the quality and availability of health care in the

communities they serve.

“”There is no corporate entity more fitting than Good Neighbor

Pharmacy/AmerisourceBergen to be the first recipient of this award,”” said

University Director of Corporate Relations Doug Colby. “”They are truly

committed to providing quality care while stressing the importance of

patient education.””

Colby said the university’s selection was influenced greatly by many of

GNP/AB’s attributes and activities including its “”Diabetes Shoppe,”” a

personalized care program designed to help consult and educate patients on

diabetes-related issues from each of its pharmacy locations. Also, the

corporation sponsors Los Angeles-based radio programming which educates

the public on healthy living and health care resources.

For the presentation of the award, GNP/AB Southwest Regional Vice

President of Retail Sales Mike Quick will accept the honor at the Beverly

Hills event on behalf of the corporation.
