Western University of Health Sciences Hires Director of Alumni and Constituent Relations
EJ Omakwu, MA, an education professional with extensive experience in
student services, operations, communications, public relations and
international relations, has joined Western University of Health Sciences
as director of alumni and constituent relations.
In his new position, Omakwu will plan and execute programs that support
and cultivate the university’s 3,500 alumni as well as its current
students. Omakwu also will provide support for Western University’s Alumni
Association Board of Trustees.
“”Western University’s alumni are exceptionally important members of our
campus community and I see it as my job to help alumni see and feel just
how crucial they are to us, “” Omakwu said.
Further development of the university’s alumni Web site is among Omakwu’s
first priorities, as is spearheading an effort to link current students
one-on-one with alumni in a mentor program.
He comes to Western University from the Odyssey Charter School in
Pasadena, where he was director of operations. He also has worked for the
Christian Coalition National Office in Chesapeake, Virginia, and Family
Ministries International in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he was a U.S.
representative for the organization in Abuja, Nigeria.
Omakwu holds a Master of Arts degree in intercultural studies with a
concentration in international business from Biola University, as well as
a bachelor of science degree in management from Liberty University in
Lynchburg Virginia. He plans to pursue a doctorate in organizational
psychology from Alliant International University
Omakwu studied medicine in his native country of Nigeria for two years
before changing his career objectives and moving to the United States. He
is single and lives in Hacienda Heights.
