Western University of Health Sciences’ Department of University

Advancement hired of its first director of corporate relations, Annamaria

Antoni.

With a 13-year history in corporate marketing and public relations, Antoni

will seek to build relationships between the university and corporations

related to the health professions.

“”As an institution involved in nearly every area of medicine, Western

University has the ability to address the needs and concerns of many

companies in the health care arena,”” Antoni said. “”Whether their concern

lies within the shortage of pharmacists, veterinarians or competent,

compassionate clinicians, many corporations find that playing a proactive

role in health care education is a tribute to their mission statement.””

Antoni recently finished a four-year stay as regional coordinator for the

Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). In addition to gathering corporate

constituents and sponsors, she oversaw the public relations, marketing,

fundraising and volunteer recruitment for the MDA’s Southern California

region. Antoni also coordinated the association’s involvement in special

events such as the Jerry Lewis Telethon and the MDA-sponsored “”Muscle Team

Walk.”” The basis for much of her efforts was funding the MDA’s clinics,

support groups, and research.

Antoni’s experience also stems from positions held in the marketing and

public affairs offices of The Los Angeles County Department of Public

Works and Chapman University.

“”We are very excited about Annamaria joining the Western University team,””

said Matthew Katz, assistant vice president for Advancement and Sponsored

Programs. “”Her experience and expertise in corporate fundraising will

bring a new dimension and new opportunities to our efforts.””

Antoni received her bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis

in public relations and marketing from California State University,

Fullerton. She is currently a resident of Aliso Viejo where she maintains

a passion for travel, music and entertaining.
