Patrick Mulroy looked tiny walking across a vacant lot on Mission Boulevard and Linden Street early Saturday morning.
Mulroy, a first-year student in Western University of Health Sciences’ College of Osteopathic Medicine, was wearing gloves and carrying a trash bag he was filling with fast-food wrappers, paper cups, even an empty sardine can. All of it came from the lot.
Mulroy was among numerous groups including schools, colleges, business organizations, churches and Neighborhood Watch put on gloves, grabbed brooms and took part in the third annual Citywide Beautification Day on Saturday.
Organizers said the clean-up was a success easily drawing more participants than in years past.
Along side Mulroy were fellow COMP students Pei Mulroy and Tien Le, who organized their group, in addition to many other COMP students who ran a health-screening booth.
