Kudos on accomplishments
Dr. Mario Jimenez, Director for Diversity Initiatives, College of Pharmacy, will receive the Hispanic Health Leadership Award at the 12th Annual Hispanic Health Professional Student Scholarship Gala on Nov. 21, 2019 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel. This award is presented to outstanding individuals who have served in significant leadership roles and have helped improve the health of Hispanics and other underserved populations. Over the past few years, Dr. Jimenez has worked very closely with the National Hispanic Health Foundation to advance culturally competent quality health care and diversity in the workforce.

WesternU Equine Health Symposium set for Sept. 21
The inaugural WesternU Equine Health Symposium is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at the VCC Johnson Auditorium, 505 E. Second St. Pomona, CA 91766. The symposium is intended for people from the local community who are passionate about animals/horses (veterinary students, veterinarians, veterinary technicians, farriers, trainers, and all horse owners) to come to know our college and learn about important equine health topics. The day will consist of multiple presentations given by well-reputed veterinarians/preceptors and our alumni, focused on teaching the public about important medical conditions in horses including podiatric issues, lameness, colic, and alternative medicine. It’s a great opportunity to gain knowledge about a variety of equine health topics and gives WesternU CVM a chance to network with the local equine community! Refreshments and lunch will be provided, and raffle prizes awarded.
Student registration is free until Sept. 11.
