Commencement 2015

The 34th Annual Commencement Exercises for Western University of Health Sciences will be held May 20-22, 2015 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, 300 E. Green St., Pasadena, Calif., and the inaugural Commencement for COMP-Northwest will be held June 5, 2015 on the COMP-Northwest campus, 200 Mullins Drive, Lebanon, Oregon, celebrating the accomplishments of 1,122 graduates.

Tanzanian visitors shed light on violence against people with albinism

At first she doesn’t want to stand up and take center stage. Her face is covered by a floppy hat and sunglasses, worn out of medical necessity to protect her sensitive skin and eyes. But after some gentle prodding from her adoptive mother, she relents.

Tindi Mbushi, 15, stands up and sings, swaying her body and snapping her fingers in time to the music pouring out of her mouth and from her heart.

“”This song has many messages,”” Tindi said after she finished singing. “”The first message is talking about the killings of people with albinism – the killings of all people and the killings of children. You should not kill. We should cooperate together to stop these things. And we should respect children.””

WesternU takes lead in national interprofessional organizations, conferences

Western University of Health Sciences faculty and administrators are taking a leadership role in moving interprofessional education (IPE) forward on an international scale.

Collaborating Across Borders (CAB) V, the premier North American IPE conference taking place Sept. 29 to Oct. 2, 2015 in Roanoke, Virginia.

WesternU, Chaminade University sign new linkage agreement

Western University of Health Sciences and Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii signed a linkage agreement Monday, May 4, 2015 on WesternU’s Pomona campus, paving the way for students from a private Catholic Marianist college in Hawaii to become College of Dental Medicine (CDM) students.

WesternU’s Dental Center to hold free screening for seniors

The Dental Center at Western University of Health Sciences will hold a free dental screening for seniors 55 and older from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2015.

The screening includes an X-ray of the jaws and teeth and a brief oral examination and cancer screening to determine if any abnormal conditions are present. It also includes a discussion with the patient as to whether they might be appropriate to receive care from WesternU students at The Dental Center. Please call 909-706-3910 to make an appointment, which is required.
