Department of Physical Therapy Education News

We are pleased to announce that Sandra Stuckey, PT, PhD, MA, has accepted the position of Director of Clinical Education for the Department of Physical Therapy Education effective July 1, 2010.

Dr. Stuckey assumes this position with a wealth of previous experience as well as great vision for the future. Prior to coming to Western University she was the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education in the School of Physical Therapy Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and Chapman College. This past year she has served as the Associate Director of Clinical Education, spearheading a plan to streamline student evaluations and developing an online version of the evaluations. Her 37 years of teaching experience, coupled with her 1:1 communication skills, dedication to student success, and commitment to evidence based patient care make her the ideal individual to assume the critical role of Director of Clinical Education.

Assistant Professor Mary Hudson-McKinney, PT, DPT, MS, NCS, Associate Professor Dayle Armstrong, PT, DPT, MS, and Professor and Associate Dean of Research Donna Redman-Bentley, PT, PhD, had their abstract accepted for the Exercise and Physical Activity in Aging Conference: Blending Research and Practice. This is a national conference attracting individuals from a variety of disciplines, and it will be held July 29-31, 2010 in Indianapolis. Their presentation is titled “Preliminary results of the Stand-Up and Be Strong screening tool to identify community-dwelling elderly individuals at risk for falls.”

Golf Classic

The 8th annual GNP/ICP Scholarship Golf Classic, held June 9, 2010 at the Robinson Ranch Golf Club in Santa Clarita, raised $55,000 for Western University of Health Sciences College of Pharmacy.
