COMP Professor to retire after 30+ years

College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific Professor Emeritus Rafi Younoszai, PhD, is retiring after serving Western University of Health Sciences for more than 30 years. Along the way he helped countless students and created community service student clubs that continue to thrive today, and he continues to inspire others to travel abroad to learn more about international medicine. Department of Physical Therapy Education News

Associate Professor Casey Chaney, PT, PhD, CSCS, OCS, as an elected representative of the San Gabriel Valley District of the California Physical Therapy Association (CPTA), attended a special meeting on June 8 of the statewide Assembly of Representatives in Los Angeles. This governing body of the CPTA usually meets annually and is comprised of more than 110 elected representatives from twelve geographical regions of the state.

College of Pharmacy golf outing nets more than $13,000

The inaugural WesternU College of Pharmacy Scholarship Golf Classic raised more than $13,000 for student scholarships, a strong start that is only expected to improve in coming years, according to College of Pharmacy officials. Click here to read the full story.

Kudos on accomplishments

Dr. Eric Gupta was inducted as a Fellow of the National Lipid Association. This honor recognizes the excellence, innovation and leadership of health care professionals in the NLA with respect to clinical lipidology in private practice or academic settings. This is indeed high honor and recognition from an association which is a multidisciplinary specialty society of health professionals including physicians, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists and dietitians.

In addition, Dr. Gupta was re-elected to another three-year term to the Pacific Lipid Association Board of Directors. The PLA is the western region of the NLA and includes California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Utah.

Congratulations to Dr. Patrick Chan, Dr. Jeffrey Wang and Dr. Zhijun (Kevin) Wang for a recent publication resulting from a cross-departmental collaboration (Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacy Practice and Administration:

According to the producers of The Autism Channel, “Autism Intersection: Direct from Western University” is one of the most watched shows on The Autism Channel. The show was created by WesternU’s FACE (Faculty for Autism Collaboration & Education) and is also available on FACE’s website. The Autism Channel is nearing 20,000 subscribers.
