Completion of solar array celebrated at WesternU

Western University of Health Sciences and Washington Gas Energy Systems Inc. unveiled the completion of a solar array system that will generate renewable energy for the University.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at a campus carport system with solar panels erected on a parking lot near Third and Palomares streets on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014.

The 672-kilowatt, campus-based project consists of a roof-mounted system of 2,688 solar panels affixed to three buildings: the Health Sciences Center (HSC), Health Professions Center (HPC) and the Banfield Veterinary Clinical Center (BVCC). WesternU to hold Trends in Autism Conference April 12, 2014

The 13th annual Trends in Autism Conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Western University of Health Sciences, 309 E. Second St., Pomona, Calif.

The keynote speakers will be Chantal Sicile-Kira and Jeremy Sicile-Kira. Chantal Sicile-Kira is a leading author on autism and is the founder of www.autismcollege.com. She will sign books after the talk.

Patient Care Center offers Affordable Care Act enrollment counseling

The Eye Care Center at Western University of Health Sciences has an enrollment counselor to help you and your family members obtain needed health care as a result of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

“GEM: Get Enrollment Moving” provides counselors through collaboration with Citrus Valley Health Partners.

Your visit with an enrollment counselor will take place at the Eye Care Center, which is housed in the Patient Care Center located at 795 E. Second St., Pomona, Calif. 91766.

WesternU learns the healing power of forgiveness

Patrick Chamusso battled apartheid in South Africa, survived imprisonment and torture, befriended Nelson Mandela, and learned to forgive his tormentors.

He shared his extraordinary story while visiting Western University of Health Sciences’ Pomona, Calif. campus Feb. 13, 2014. He took a tour and had lunch with WesternU Founding President Philip Pumerantz, PhD, at the invitation of College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP) graduate Habib Sadeghi, DO ’00.

Registration is open for WesternU Preview Day from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, highlighting health education opportunities offered at Western University of Health Sciences.

Preview Day, held in and around WesternU’s Health Education Center (HEC), 701 E. Second St., Pomona, Calif., will provide potential students the opportunity to get more information about a health profession program of interest, hear about the admissions process, learn about financial aid, see curriculum firsthand, discover how to become a competitive applicant, and meet students and faculty.
