Kudos on accomplishments

Veterinary professor and parasitologist Dr. Malika Kachani was invited by the World Health Organization to attend the Third International Conference on Neglected Zoonotic Diseases, and made a presentation titled: “Implementing One Health, Outcome and follow-up of the Stone Mountain meeting.” The conference took place at the WHO Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland on Nov. 23-24, 2010. In 2009, Dr. Kachani was the overall Chairperson of this meeting, and this year was co-leader of the “Operationalizing One Health: Proof of Concept” group and was earlier appointed by WHO to the Neglected Zoonotic Disease advisory group.

Veterinary professor and microbiologist Dr. Peggy Barr assisted in developing an on-line tutorial supported by IDEXX laboratories. This web-based resource is approved for veterinary continuing education credit. The electronic publication citation is:

Martinez, DMD, Associate Dean for Community Partnerships and Access to Care, co-authored an article, “Breaking Down Barriers – Improving access to oral health care is critical to people living with HIV,” that appears in the August 2010 edition of Dimensions of Dental Hygiene magazine. The Library has recently added seven new titles (http://pumerantzoutreach.blogspot.com/2010/11/new-e-books-titles-added.html) to our e-book collection. The topics covered include medical Spanish, optometry, EKG interpretation, and more. These titles may be accessed on campus or remotely, using your e-mail username/password. To search for these and other e-books in our collection please visit our online catalog and use the e-book search feature.

We have also added an electronic journal subscription to Science, the journal of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAS). Our subscription run is from 1997 to present.
