Tampa Bay Rays Founder to Sign Autographs for Scholarships at WesternU

Vince Naimoli, founder and chairman emeritus of the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team, will sign copies of his autobiography, “Business, Baseball & Beyond,” from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 24 in the Western University of Health Sciences Bookstore, 309 E. Second St., Pomona.

Naimoli, who serves on WesternU’s Board of Trustees, will donate all proceeds to WesternU’s General Scholarship Fund. The book is on sale in the WesternU Bookstore for $19.99.

Naimoli has been president, vice president, chairman, or CEO of some of the biggest names in American business, notably Continental Can Company, Doehler-Jarvis, The Regina Company and the Electrolux Corporation. He was founder, chairman, president and CEO of Anchor Glass Container Corporation, which today is the third-largest manufacturer of glass containers in North America, with more than 2,900 employees and annual revenues in excess of $1.2 billion.

In 1995, Naimoli and his business partners were awarded a Major League Baseball franchise for the St. Petersburg, Fla., area. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays played their inaugural season in 1998; in 2008, the Tampa team – now known simply as the Rays – won the American League Championship and qualified for the World Series. Naimoli stepped down as managing general partner in 2005, and today retains the titles of founder and Chairman Emeritus of the club.
