SPaRC 2019 Final Day Ceremony

Thirty-four SPaRC students completed a five-week summer course and celebrated with a certificate of completion ceremony Friday, July 12, 2019. These incoming students are joining six programs at WesternU. #WesternUWay

The five-week WesternU Summer Preparedness and Readiness Course (SPaRC) program held its certificate of completion ceremony Friday, July 12, 2019. This year, 34 incoming WesternU students opted to spend part of their summer in the program, helping them become academically prepared and emotionally ready for the rigors of their respective program beginning in August.

The student breakdown is:

College of Optometry – 10

College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP) – 9

College of Dental Medicine – 5

College of Podiatric Medicine – 4

Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies – 4

Department of Physical Therapy Education – 2

“Participating in SPaRC allows the students to familiarize themselves with the WesternU Way early on and preps them for what’s to come in August,” SPaRC Director Hector Arroyo Jr., EdD, said. “They are able to meet fellow students, faculty and staff, as well as participate interprofessionally in lectures, labs, and community service to form supportive friendships with students in other disciplines.”
