Saving the dolphins

Some of Dr. Pamela Govett’s patients have weighed ounces and others hundreds of pounds. Her patients have included sharks and manatees, koi and goldfish.

However, it’s her experience relocating 16 dolphins displaced by Hurricane Katrina she wrote about for inclusion in the recently published book "The Rhino With Glue-On Shoes And Other Surprising True Stories of Zoo Vets and their Patients."

Although Govett, assistant professor of marine mammal medicine at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, decided to write about the dolphins, she has no preferences when treating her patients. Read the full story >>
