Rep. Norma Torres visits WesternU Eye Care Center

Rep. Norma Torres, D-Pomona, visited the Eye Care Center at Western University of Health Sciences Monday, Aug. 10, 2015 in part to recognize National Health Center Week. She toured the facility and met with College of Optometry officials, including Dean Elizabeth Hoppe and Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs Robert Gordon, to talk about issues of mutual interest and importance.

College of Optometry officials suggested including low-vision assistive devices in H.R. 3308, which expands Medicare coverage. Torres said she would connect them with her legislative director to continue the discussion.

Hoppe also invited Torres to utilize the Eye Care Center as a resource for her constituents who have vision-related issues. Torres said her office often sends referrals to WesternU.
