Christina Rongavilla, PharmD ’06, was named 2005 Pharmacy Student of

the Year by the California Pharmacists Association (CPhA) during its 2005

Annual Meeting in San Diego last month.

The Pharmacy Student of the Year Award recognizes a student who is

currently a member of ASP/CPhA and enrolled in a college of pharmacy.

The person nominated for this award is active in the student chapter and

has shown a willingness to become involved in the future of the pharmacy

profession as evidenced by their involvement in CPhA and APhA

professional activities.

Christina served as both president-elect and president of the

Western Academy of Students of Pharmacy (ASP) Chapter and as president

was instrumental in more than doubling the number of pharmaceutical

projects WesternU took on as well as increasing WesternU’s ASP membership

by more than 25 percent.

Christina also played a key role in helping increase pharmacy

student attendance at Outlook and the Mid-year Regional Meeting.

Christina’s strong leadership and professional skills make her the ideal

candidate for CPhA’s Pharmacy Student of the Year Award.
