Partnership gives students a leg up

One major accomplishment of Pomona’s Youth and Family Master Plan effort has been bringing the city’s institutions together to discuss Pomona’s needs and help realize its potential.

That didn’t happen much before the advent of the master plan effort. That was evidenced by the fact that "community disorganization" was identified early in the master plan process as one of the major problems the city needs to deal with.

That sort of problem doesn’t turn on a dime, but there’s every indication that the city’s major institutions are putting their heads and their efforts together to improve life for Pomona’s youth.

We’re particularly excited about the collaboration among Western University of Health Sciences, Cal Poly Pomona and Pomona Unified School District to help the city’s schoolchildren become the health-care providers of the future. Read the full story >>
