New Physician Assistant joins Hartley Mercy Medical Clinic

Baum-Harmon Mercy Hospital and Clinics, a partner with Mercy Medical Centcr-Sioux City, has announced that Sandra L. Muyskens, Certified Physician Assistant will join its medical staff.

Sandy Muyskens will be seeing patients at the Hartley Mercy Medical Clinic on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, joining Dr. Soe Nyunt in practice. She will also hold medical staff privileges at Baum Harmon Mercy Hospital, and will be on call with other health care providers to care for patients ofthe hospital’s emergency room.

Muyskens has 13 years of experience as a Physician Assistant. Her past experience includes two years in an urban emergency department in Orange County, California.

For the past four years, she has been working part-time in family practice clinics in Spencer, Larchwood, and Estherville.

"I am excited to join the Hartley Mercy Clinic and Baum Harmon Hospital," said Sandy. "I enjoy Family Practice and the variety it brings. I look forward to working closely with Dr. Nyunt and the other healthcare providers in the practice."

Sandy Muyskens completed her undergraduate studies at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa and received her Physician Assistant Degree from The College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific/Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California.

Her personal interests include women’s health, dermatology, and teaching. She is fluent in Spanish. Sandy and her husband, Kevin are the parents of four children age 2 to 11.

"We are very pleased to welcome Sandy to our staff," said Deb Prins, manager of the Mercy clinics in Primghar, Paullina, Sutherland and Hartley. "She has a practice style that is going to fit well witli Dr. Nyunt. Her interest in women’s health will be an asset to the clinic."
