Over 200 golfers participated in the inaugural Good Neighbor Pharmacy
(GNP)/ Institute for Community Pharmacy (ICP) Scholarship Golf Classic on
June 19, 2003 at the Robinson Ranch Golf Club in Santa Clarita,
California. With a total of $140,000 raised, proceeds will benefit
students at the schools of pharmacy for Western University of Health
Sciences and USC.

“”I was very pleased with the tournament and proud to support
scholarships for pharmacy students interested in the entrepreneurial
community pharmacy arena,”” said Mike Quick, tournament honorary chair and
vice president, retail sales west for AmerisourceBergen. “”We plan on
continuing the GNP/ICP Scholarship Golf Classic on an annual basis and I
look forward to increasing the scholarship support each year.””

Of the funds raised, $50,000 will be distributed to both pharmacy schools
at Western University and USC. Western University has designated the
funds as scholarships monies for students expressing a career interest in
independent community pharmacies, said Max Ray, PharmD, dean of Western
University’s College of Pharmacy.

The ICP will receive the remaining $40,000 to develop innovative
continuing education programs for practicing independent pharmacists.

“”On behalf of ICP, we are extremely proud to support this inaugural golf
tournament benefiting pharmacy students at USC and Western,”” said David
Breslow, Pharm.D., executive director, United Pharmacy Network, Inc. “” We
understand how important it is to assist students in attending the
pharmacy school of their choice, regardless of financial obstacles.””
