Tony L. Chan, PharmD, has been unanimously elected to the Western University of Health Sciences Board of Trustees.

“Tony Chan has been a longtime friend of the university,” said WesternU President Philip Pumerantz, PhD. “He brings a background in health care and in higher education, and his philosophy resonates well with WesternU’s philosophy. As a businessman, he is well known in the community for his sense of service, caring and compassion.”

Dr. Chan, a Claremont resident, was elected to the board in March 2011. He also serves on the Board of Regents of the University of the Pacific.

Dr. Chan attended East Los Angeles College and UCLA and earned his PharmD degree from the University of the Pacific. He worked briefly at Doctors Hospital of Montclair and Methodist Hospital in Arcadia, and currently oversees his family’s real estate management and financial investments.

“Dr. Pumerantz asked me to join the board and give back to the community,” Dr. Chan said. “As the University is on its path of ascendancy, I feel privileged to be part of it. I am excited and looking forward to working with the Board — the transformation team behind WesternU’s aggressive programs that captured much interest and many people’s imagination.”
