Norman E. Vinn, DO, was recently selected as the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) president-elect.

Vinn serves on the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific’s Advisory Board and is a Western University of Health Sciences clinical professor of family medicine and geriatrics. He also served as COMP’s White Coat ceremony speaker in 2011. He was selected as president-elect at the AOA House of Delegates meeting on July 22, 2012.

As the founder and chief medical officer of Housecall Doctors Medical Group, Inc. and president of The Residentialist Group, Inc. in Orange County, Dr. Vinn has provided COMP an opportunity to expand its scope of practice in the area of geriatrics and home visitation, said COMP Dean Clinton Adams, DO. Many students cite this experience as a key factor in their decision to enter family medicine.

“WesternU is very fortunate to have the friendship and support of such a visionary, ethical and dedicated leader,” Adams said. “Dr. Vinn has been a cornerstone of the COMP Advisory Board, bringing together many influential community leaders and creating a forum to discuss and understand in a more comprehensive way issues such as the Western Diabetes Institute, primary care practice, the home visitation industry and the many unique idiosyncrasies of California health care financing and legislative agendas.

“Dr. Vinn’s leadership of the American Osteopathic Association over the past eight years has helped me show the strength of the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific to the osteopathic profession. We have placed several of our faculty members on very important committees, creating a national presence for our college and faculty. WesternU is a better place because of this relationship.”
