The University congratulates Dr. Suzana Tkalcic (CVM), for winning the

Campus Esplanade design competition, which opened to the campus community

in August 2006. Tkalcic’s design, “”Fountain of Values,”” earned her the

first place prize.

The winner was selected based on creativity and the ability to convey the

three principles of WesternU: humanism, caring and compassion.

The design element created from Tkalcic’s submission is slated to be

placed as a permanent outdoor feature, located in the vicinity of

Founder’s Park and the Health Professions Center.

The university also salutes Debbie Pace (CDIHP), whose untitled design,

placed second, and John Hiroto (Purchasing) for his submission, “”Umbrella

of Light,”” which he won third place for.

The design competition was suggested and judged by members of the

WesternU Board of Trustees. They also decided on the awards for the

first-, second-, and third-place winners, which are $500, $250, and $100

respectively.

The other design submissions not selected are being retained as potential

elements that may be added during future campus construction.
