David Connett, DO, vice dean, medical director and an associate professor of Family Medicine for the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP) at Western University of Health Sciences has been elected president of the Osteopathic Medical Board of California (OMBC).

Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. appointed Connett, a 1984 alumnus of COMP, to the OMBC in May 2012.

OMBC members recently elected Connett to the position during a conference call.

In addition to this role, Connett serves as Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons of California (OPSC) president-elect and is a key volunteer with the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).

The OMBC licenses osteopathic physicians and surgeons to protect consumers and promote the highest professional standards in the practice of osteopathic medicine, according to its website.
