Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. has appointed David Connett, DO, associate dean of clinical services for the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP), to the Osteopathic Medical Board of California (OMBC).

Connett, a 1984 alumnus of COMP, was among four osteopathic doctors in the state to be appointed to the board by the governor on May 24, 2012. Dr. Jane Xenos, a 1990 COMP alumna, was also appointed.

The announcement of the four new board members brings the OMBC total to nine members. According to the governor’s office, five board members had previously been appointed.

“”It is an incredible honor,”” Connett said. “”I thought it would be important to have a member from the University involved so that it will provide input to our curriculum.””

The OMBC is a four-year term. It licenses osteopathic physicians and surgeons to protect consumers and promote the highest professional standards in the practice of osteopathic medicine, according to its website.
