The Lebanon Chamber of Commerce honored Western University of Health Sciences and COMP-Northwest with a Cornerstone Award at its annual Distinguished Service Awards Banquet on March 9, 2010.

Dirk Foley, Director of the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP) Northwest Track, accepted the award on behalf of the university. COMP Northwest is scheduled to open in August 2011 with about 100 first-year medical students. COMP will operate the 55,000-square-foot facility being built in Lebanon, Ore. by Corvallis-based Samaritan Health Services.

The Cornerstone program recognizes chamber members that support the chamber at a higher monetary level than other members. The chamber has 12 Cornerstone Partners, the most ever, said Shelly Garrett, executive director of the Lebanon Chamber of Commerce.

“We appreciate our Cornerstones more than you can imagine,” she said.

WesternU became the chamber’s newest Cornerstone Partner when it became the presenting sponsor of the chamber’s golf tournament on July 9.

The new campus will serve as a wonderful anchor for Lebanon’s growing community, Garrett said.

“The community is so excited about Western,” she said.
