From Learning Enhancement & Academic Development (LEAD):

On Monday, June 8, 2020, LEAD welcomed 32 incoming WesternU students from six participating programs (DMD, DO, DPM, DPT, MSPA, and OD) to the three-week, completely online Summer Preparedness and Readiness Course (SPaRC). The morning kicked off with a warm and enthusiastic welcome from WesternU Senior Vice President of Student Affairs Beverly Guidry, EdD. The SPaRC students then had an opportunity to meet and interact with deans and College representatives in small informative breakout rooms.

In the afternoon, the SPaRC students had an important overview of HIPAA and the current COVID-19 regulations from College of Health Sciences retired faculty Miguel Medina, PA-C. The day ended with the SPaRC students meeting their TAs who offered some advice for managing their curriculum and personal lives. SPaRC is designed to prepare incoming WesternU students for the rigors of their chosen program by providing an introduction to applicable courses, skills, and competencies in an interprofessional, educational health care setting. Visit the LEAD website to learn more about SPaRC. Click to see the first day’s agenda and meet the SPaRC 2020 students.
