The student club Pipeline to Health Careers (PHC) and the Center for Academic Community Engagement (ACE), a unit of the Office of Mission Integration (OMI), launched WesternU’s 12th year of the Health Career Ladder (HCL) academy on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021. Although virtual, the more than 180 participants found it a great success due to the PHC Officers dedication in creating a robust curriculum for the students where they follow a patient, learn the science and diagnosis techniques, and implement a treatment plan.

The keynote speaker was Dr. Francisco Mendoza, who delivered an inspirational story of resilience, love and academic achievement. Additionally, HCL had over 80+ WesternU student volunteers join HCL to deliver curriculum and give back to our Pomona and Native American communities. The support they provide to the PHC officers is greatly appreciated and we look forward to seeing them grow their skills in patient education and practicing cultural humility as they volunteer with HCL.
