EdTech Innovations, a pioneering division of the Western University of Health Sciences Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), has successfully leveraged generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) and AI-Avatars to develop an engaging orientation video for the HealthImpact Benner Institute Mentoring Program, supporting the College of Graduate Nursing and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant focused on nursing education preceptor development.

The most-recent collaboration between the College of Graduate Nursing, HealthImpact, and EdTech Innovations resulted in the development of a cutting-edge orientation video, utilizing the latest in AI technology to revolutionize how new participants are introduced to the program.

“It’s professional, clean, digestible, and truly a work of art. We are blown away by your Team’s capabilities!” stated Owen Metzger, MBA, PMP, Manager of Strategic Initiatives at HealthImpact.

Using the advanced AI platform Synthesia, EdTech rapidly produced a high-quality, 90-second orientation video with virtual AI avatars and seamlessly integrated branding, effectively orienting new mentees and mentors. Through a collaborative approach, and several rounds of revisions, EdTech Innovations delivered a video that exceeded the client’s expectations.

By incorporating GenAI technology, EdTech Innovations has effectively navigated past traditional video production challenges such as scheduling, location scouting, and crew coordination.

“Leveraging AI technology enables us to produce precise and engaging content more rapidly than was possible previously,” said Joe Marilo, Senior Instructional Media Producer at EdTech Innovations. “Our approach isn’t merely about replacing traditional methods; it’s about pioneering new standards in the production of educational content.”

This blend of AI efficiency and human insight ensures projects are not only completed faster but also maintain the highest standards of quality and relevance, showcasing EdTech Innovations’ commitment to leveraging technology to enhance educational experiences while valuing the essential role of human creativity and expertise.

The deployment of AI technology in the production of the orientation video for HealthImpact Mentors exemplifies EdTech Innovations’ pioneering approach to educational content.

“This orientation video not only brings knowledge and excitement to the new mentors and mentees but also embodies our commitment to innovation and excellence in education,” said Tracy Mendolia-Moore, Manager of EdTech Innovations.
