Eighteen Western University of Health Sciences students of Asian descent
will be recognized for their academic achievement during the University’s
12th Annual Asian American Scholarship Dinner from 6:30-11 p.m. Saturday,
March 9, at Sam Woo’s Seafood Restaurant in San Gabriel.
Scholarship winners from the University’s osteopathic medicine, pharmacy,
physician assistant and physical therapy programs will receive gifts
ranging from $500-$1,000. Students awarded were chosen based on their
academic achievement and their past and present involvement in community
service to the Asian American population.
The event also will honor former Alhambra Hospital Medical Center chief of
staff Dr. Jonathan Wu. Dr. Wu has served the San Gabriel Valley as a
family practitioner for more than 20 years. A resident of San Marino, Dr.
Wu serves as the superintendent representing the ownership of Doctor’s
Hospital of Montclair and the Alhambra Medical Center – where he also has
been working to develop a teaching program.

were funded by private donors.
