Philip Pumerantz, president of Western University of Health Sciences, founded the independent nonprofit health professions university in Pomona roughly 30 years ago.

The university, which continues to undergo tremendous growth with more than 2,500 students, offers degrees in nursing, osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician assistant studies and veterinary medicine.
