WesternU students begin picking up PPE and medical equipment for the new school year
Western University of Health Sciences Welcome Week is in midstream, which means students began picking up their medical equipment for school and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for rotations.
Behind the WesternU Bookstore, new Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies students picked up medical equipment and accessory kits. They also received a physician assistant Class of 2022 T-shirts courtesy of College of Health Sciences Dean Dee Schilling, PT, PhD.
Of the 98 PA students enrolled in the Class of 2020, more than 70 students picked up their equipment Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020.
“It’s definitely been a crazy time but I’m overjoyed to be here and I can’t wait to spend the next two years here,” said new PA student Aziza Najjar. “I’m sure the school will prepare us for what’s to come.”
New PA students Claudia Moroney and Erin Tsuji met through a PA Facebook group that some upper-class members created. After quickly becoming friends, they decided to be roommates.
“We are excited to start PA school together,” said Moroney. “Having a buddy to bounce things off of with, even though we are doing school mostly remotely, will be great.”

The College of Podiatric Medicine (CPM) provided PPE pick-up dates Aug. 6 and Friday, Aug. 7 for third- and fourth-year students. It included a face shield, face masks, N95 masks and goggles to help protect them while on rotation through December. The College also added a few goodies to the bag.
“Today I picked up PPE for myself and one of my classmates, which will help protect myself so I won’t get sick and my classmates won’t get sick and we will be able to have a good, strong year of rotations,” said third-year CPM student Alex Barney.
