2013 Faculty and Staff Luncheon & Silent Auction

The sixth annual Faculty & Staff Luncheon & Silent Auction raised more than $5,400 for Western University of Health Sciences’ University Scholarship Fund.

WesternU’s Office of University Advancement presented the “”Hot Fun in the Summertime”” event July 26, 2013 with activities that included a chili cook-off, cupcake contest, casino games, Dr. Ben Cohen Nok Hockey Tournament, silent auction, and $3 hot dog lunches.

Los Angeles County Fire Department Capt. Shawn Youngman, firefighter Ryan Souder and engineer Danny Trevizo judged the chili cook-off.

Kay Henley, Premium Promotionals owner, Fred Kokash, Sheraton Fairplex & Conference Center, and Miles Holland, Denny’s Restaurant owner, served as judges for the cupcake contest.

Chili cook-off “”Four Alarm”” winners were Joanne Davis (Eye Care Center) and her husband, Jeff, for best chili and best presentation. “”Full O’ Bull”” winners were Kelly Russo and Angie Chambers (both College of Optometry) for best chili, Alexander Lee (College of Dental Medicine) for best presentation and Anne Ly (College of Pharmacy) received an honorable mention award. “”VeggieMite”” winners were Desiree Colly (University Advancement) for best chili and Diane Koshimune (College of Podiatric Medicine) for best presentation.

Cupcake winners were Linda Frenza (Financial Aid) for best taste, Desiree Colly for best presentation, and Desiree Inglis (College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific) for best decoration.

More than 50 baskets were donated for the silent auction. Gift baskets were comprised from generous donations from WesternU Colleges, departments, and supportive local businesses.

WesternU Senior Vice President Thomas Fox, PhD, defended his title for a third time as champion of the Nok Hockey Tournament.
